TUI Travel PLC and Intrepid Travel formed a joint venture to create the “biggest” global adventure travel company, PEAK Adventure Travel Group, in February 2011. The one-stop-shop would consist of global adventure brands of both the companies, including Adventure Center, TrekAmerica, Intrepid Suntrek, Gecko’s, Exodus and Adventure Tours Australia.
TUI will own 60% of PEAK, whereas Intrepid will own 40%. The cost saving venture would be completed by May 2011. TUI, the biggest European tour operator headquartered in the United Kingdom, operates First Choice and Thomson. Intrepid, based in Melbourne, Australia, is one of the leading small group adventure tour operators.
