Who Can Become Miscellaneous Adventure Activity Instructor ?

According to the Himachal Pradesh Miscellaneous Adventure Activities (Draft) Rule 7 (2016), every aspiring miscellaneous adventure activity instructor / guide shall meet the following criteria:

General Prerequisites

  1. Minimum age: 21 years (Rule 7-1)
  2. Fitness Proof: A medical certificate issued by a qualified medical officer (Rule 7-1)
  3. Certificate in Basic First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from a recognized institution, including government hospitals (Rule 7-1)
  4. Fluency in English and Hindi (Rule 7-1)
  5. Two years miscellaneous adventure activity(MAA)-specific experience (Rule 7-2)
  6. Good track record (Rule 7-2)
  7. Completed Methods of Instruction Course in Mountaineering from a recognized Indian national or state level or international institute, including (Rule 7-2)
    • Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, H.P.,
    • Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, or
    • Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi,

Prerequisites for Skiing Guide / Instructor

Besides the general prerequisites, the aspiring skiing guide shall have completed Methods of Instruction Course in Skiing from any recognized state or national level institute, including (Rule 7-2)

  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, H.P.,
  • Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg,
  • Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited (GMVN), Auli, or
  • Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIMWS), Pahlgam
