Checklist for registering home stay in Himachal

Besides a duly filled in registration application form for registering a home stay in Himachal Pradesh, you also need the following documents (Annexure II):

  • Report of inspection done by the concerned district tourism development officer (DTDO) or any other officer of the tourism department
  • Revenue documents
  • An affidavit by the unit owner on guidelines discussed in the Clause 8 of the Scheme, 2008
  • Registration fee = INR 100
  • Or Registration renewal fee = INR 100
  • Signed guest register
  • Signed bill book or home stay pad

 

The annexure also provides a comprehensive checklist for Himachal home stay owners and inspection officers:

  • Facility certificate by home stay establishment
  • Committee’s observation on available amenities and facilities and maintenance of the unit
  • Parking space without encroaching the road
  • Airy (well-ventilated), clean, dampness and pest free guestrooms with window
  • Minimum floor area of each guestroom in square feet.
  • Comfortable bed with good quality linen preferably designed in local style
  • Details of bathrooms: number, minimum size in square feet, WC toilet seat with lid and toilet paper
  • Supply of running cold and hot water
  • Water saving showers or taps
  • Clean, hygienic, and pest and smoke free kitchen that serves traditional Indian or continental breakfast
  • Dining area
  • Quality crockery and cutlery
  • Wardrobe (s) with minimum of 4 hangers in the guestroom (s)
  • Drawers or shelves in the guestroom
  • Aqua guard for drinking water or supply of mineral water
  • Necessary quality furniture, including table, chairs
  • Dry cleaning / laundry facility or dryers / washing machines in the home stay unit
  • Seating arrangement in the lobby or a lounge
  • Cooling and heating equipment for enclosed public areas
  • Garbage disposal system as per the local municipal laws
  • Pay application fee in cash, check, or demand draft
  • Facility of left luggage
  • Help in managing luggage if requested
  • Check-in and check-out register for the guests, especially passport details of the foreign tourists.

 

Although these checklist items are not mandatory, the committee shall inspect the unit against this checklist to ensure a convenient stay for the tourists before recommending the unit for registration.
