The Sikkim Registration of Home Stay Establishment Rule 6-1 categorizes homestay in three classes.

(1) Class A (Gold House)

(2) Class B (Silver House)

(3) Class C (Bronze House)

Criteria for Sikkim Home Stay Classification (Rule 6-1)

The classification is based on two aspects:

  • Number of facilities
  • Quality of home stay

The two years will be counted from the date of expiry of the existing classification if the reclassification application was submitted three months in advance of the expiry of the existing classification.

Annexure III

The Annexure III to the Rule 6 consists of two parts: facility checklist and score sheet for the classification. The first part is a certificate of the facilities signed by the owner. The second part elaborates on scoring used for classification. (Rule 6-2)

Facility Checklist for Sikkim Home Stay Owner(s)

The facilities are divided into five main categories. These categories have two types of items: necessary and desired. Only 1 subcategory is marked as desired. All other 48 subcategories are necessary. The checklist specifies some eco-friendly items, for example, non-plastic crockery and glassware.
