You may join one of adventure sports courses at well-known Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) in Darjeeling, West Bengal. The HMI, set up in 1954, imparts training in ice climbing, mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking and water sports. Eminent mountaineers, including Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, Nowang Gambhu and Dorjee Lhatoo, have taught at the institute. HMI conducts adventure, basic and advance mountaineering, and methods of instruction courses regularly for both genders. HMI boasts state-of-the-art training facilities, including a sports climbing wall of international standard, an obstacle training area, a library and Mountaineering Museum.
