Three Accommodation Options in Thiksay

Thiksay (Thiksey / Thikse) village offers three different types of accommodations: guesthouses, hotels, and temporary camps. But the number of properties is very limited. For instance, the village has only one hotel, one temporary camp, and six guesthouses. The first two options are for mid- and high-end travelers respectively. The guesthouses are perfect for budget travelers.

Chamba Hotel and Restaurant

The hotel run by Thiksay Monastery is located along the highway and within easy walking distance of the monastery. Chamba features well-appointed deluxe and standard rooms with attached bath and modern conveniences. The in-room amenities include intercoms, televisions, and showers. Both laundry service and parking space are available. The restaurant serves vegetarian Ladakhi, Indian, and Western food during 7:00 am-9:00 pm daily. Check-in time is 8:00 am, whereas check-out is scheduled for 12:00 pm.

The tariff starts from INR 3,080 per person, per night for continental plan (CP) i.e. breakfast and room. You can book a room via an email.

The Chamba Camp by TUTC

The Ultimate Travelling Camp (TUTC) would set up The Chamba Camp at Thiksay from June 15 to September 30, 2014. The temporary accommodation consists of luxury canvas tents equipped with modern amenities. The luxury tents are very expensive: INR 469,060 for five nights on single occupancy basis. Presidential suite is also available for über-rich.

Guesthouses in Thiksay 

The villagers offer a few rooms in their houses for a nominal price. The guesthouses offer an opportunity to experience local lifestyle. You can find contact numbers of Akhon, Gyappa Thaiktree, Kalon, Kongma Nono, Tsopa, and Zorapa, registered guesthouses at http://leh.nic.in/pages/hotellist.pdf. Kongma Nono, situated along the highway, is a very short walk away from the Thiksay Monastery.
