When we visited the International Doll Museum at Bal Bhawan (Sector 23) in Chandigarh for the first time in 2006, it was in disrepair. But, we liked the idea and dolls from different countries. So, we spent some time in the museum.
Five years hence, in the beginning of the 2011, we visited the Bal Bhawan again to attend an arts and crafts exhibition. We also peeped through the new glass gate of the museum. The renovated bright museum with dolls in authentic and colorful costumes was fabulous. We spent about an hour viewing properly lit exhibits. Most of the dolls appeared as if they had just stepped out from a professional beauty salon. Besides dolls from across the world, adventures of legendry figures, such as story of Buddha and Lord Ram, are narrated through dolls. However, its toy train was out-of-order. You can spend half a day at the museum with your kids reading each infographics complementing the dolls. A visit to the museum is worth your children’s leisure.
