Snarl-ups on Kufri-Chini Bangla Road Require Attention

Snarl-ups on Kufri-Chini Bangla Road Require Attention

rp_TravelExperiencesBad.pngTraffic jam is an eyesore in many popular (or “oversold”) serene destinations of Himachal Pradesh, including Kufri. Small green private vehicles should only be allowed on slim, 2-way, mountainous roads like one connecting Kufri-Chini Bangla-Chail. During holiday season and weekends, scores of big modern private vehicles ply on about 2-kilometer dusty road between Kufri and Chini Bangla. Two paid Himalayan Parking lots that fill up very fast are located along this road but tourist vehicles (buses and cars) unable to find place in the lots encroach upon the road, leaving very limited space for vehicle movement and causing grotesque snarl-ups. Horses also share this road with the vehicles and strong smell of dung fills the air after10-11 AM. Like “the Mall” and “the Ridge” in Shimla, a ban on private vehicles on this 2-km stretch could reduce congestion. Let only public buses going to and / or coming from Chail use the road as tourists wishing to visit Chail by their own vehicles can go via Kandaghat.
