Save 20% on mountain peak royalty
on October 31st, 2012 at 5:00 pmThe State Government of Sikkim levies substantial peak royalty for climbing within the Sikkim Himalaya. As of 2010, the royalty for foreign expeditions amounts to
US$ 8,000 for peaks above 8,000 meters
US$ 7,000 for 7,501-8,000-meter peaks
US$ 6,000 for 7,001-7,500-meter peaks
US$ 5,500 for 6,501-7,000-meter peaks
US$ 5,000 for peaks below 6,500 meters
The Indian expeditions pay 50% of the royalty charged to foreign expeditions. If you book expeditions via Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, Sonam Gyatso Mountaineering Institute, Gangtok or a travel agent based in Sikkim, you can save 20% on the royalty.
