Coldest Journey to start in March 2013
Sir Ranulph Fiennes, “the world’s greatest living explorer”, planned to cross Antarctica during winter 2013, the last polar challenge left. The 68 year old seasoned explorer would use SA Agulhas for the adventure. The six-month-long Coldest Journey would begin on March 21, 2013. The 6-member expedition is not only aiming to make a record but also has other goals, including climate change research and raising $10 million for a blindness curing initiative, “Seeing is Believing”. Bally Everest Anniversary Event
London Collections: Men hosted Bally Everest Anniversary Event. Bally, the Swiss designer, displayed gear for explorers on Bedford Square, London to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first climb of Mount Everest. Glaciers are likely to melt irrespective of temperature change

Backwoods acquired Neptune Mountaineering on December 31, 2012. Neptune, located in Colorado, is a mountain shop. Backwoods, based in Austin, U.S.A., operates outdoor apparel and gear stores. Both are family run businesses set up in 1973.

Visa-on-arrival for senior citizens
Visa-on-arrival for senior citizens may be introduced on January 15, 2013 to simplify travel between Pakistan and India. The Pakistani senior citizens may obtain the visa from the Attari Integrated Check Post in Punjab. However, they cannot stay in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and prohibited areas of Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and other states.

Pakyong airport may complete by December 2013
Airport Authority of India (AAI) is building a Greenfield airport in Pakyong, Sikkim. Pakyong is about 35 kilometers from Gangtok, the state capital. The airport is likely to become operational by the end of this year.

NTB organizes road shows in South India
Nepal Tourism Board (N.T.B.) organized road shows in South Indian cities, including Madurai and Trichy, as a part of Nepal Sales Mission 2013. The board is planning an Indo-Nepal Travel Mart that will happen in Lumbini, Nepal during Jan 15-16.
