OneAssist teams up with MakeMyTrip
OneAssist Consumer Solution teamed up with MakeMyTrip. OneAssist would provide the protection and assistance products, including TripAssist and EveyDayAssist, to the customers of MakeMyTrip. The security products protect Smartphone and wallet data.

Fall in customer satisfaction with internet travel
For the internet travel segment, the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) recorded a decline of 2.6% to 76 on a 0-100 scale in 2012 over the last year. Travelocity registered the highest decline of 5.1% to 75, followed by Priceline (2.6%) and Expedia (1.3%). All other websites reported a decline of 3.8%. The national customer satisfaction level of Orbitz did not experience any change.

This article features the findings of the Unmetric report focusing on the leading Indian online travel agents’ (OTAs) social media habits. The report gave scores to all the OTAs. The final scores are sum of the scores of Twitter and Facebook. Unmetric Score of MakeMyTrip is the highest at 79 out of 200, followed by Goibibo (76) and Yatra (68). Read the complete report.

OTAs win hotel tax lawsuit
Online travel agencies (OTAs), including Expedia, Inc. won the bed / hotel tax lawsuit in Florida. The First District Court of Appeal said that the Tourist Development Act is not applicable to the tariff collected from the customer by the agents. The counties therefore cannot force the agents to pay the “tourist development tax” on the tariff for which room is sold to the customers.
