National Himalayan Mountain Biking Expedition: Leh-Basgo-Nurla-Lamayuru
Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI) makes bicycle adventures in Ladakh easier. The association is organizing nine-day National Himalayan Mountain Biking Expedition-Leh from September 1, 2013. You can join on any day between September 1 and September 14.
Affordable mountain bicycle trip
The expedition fee amounts to INR 7,500 per cyclist. The fee includes guidance, insurance, simple vegetarian meals, and accommodation in guest houses / tents. YHAI also provides a helmet, knee cap, elbow guard, knapsack, mountain bike, and biking gloves. Isn’t it an affordable adventure?

Highlights of the expedition
More than 32 hours cycling takes you to Basgo, Nurla, and Lamayuru villages. Basgo, featuring ruins of Namgyal dynasty, lies to the west of Leh. The village is known for Basgo Gompa comprising of Chamba Lakhang, Chamchung and Serzang temples. The gompa was added to the World Monuments Fund Watch List in 2000 and 2002.
Nurla lies on the banks of the Indus River. Lamayuru is the site of Yuru Gomp, where Yuru Kabgyat festival is celebrated every year during June.
