Trek from Kodai to Munnar


Several treks start from Kodaikanal, nestled in the lap of Palani Hills in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu. Some of them end in picturesque Munnar, a charming hill station on the confluence of Kundala, Nallathanni and Mudrapuzha streams in Kerala. About 35-kilometer-long, “Kodai (Kodaikanal) to Munnar” route, also called the Escape Road spanning the two Indian states, is one of the most popular treks in South India. Trekking during monsoon is a fun, but leeches may create havoc. The 3-day trek starts from Berijam Lake, a short bus ride from Kodaikanal. The trek winds through thick forest and in part along the Escape Road between Berijam Lake and Top Station via Konalar, Kambippalam, Pulavachiar and Vandaravu. From Top Station, Munnar is about one and a half hour drive by public bus or private vehicle. Permission is required from Munnar and Kodai District Forest Officers (DFOs) for the trek. Check and .
