Adventure tourism in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve

This thesis discussed the roles of civic, private and public sectors in the development of sustainable adventure tourism in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve (N.D.B.R.), Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal), India, current status of adventure tourism, local people’s participation, relationship between adventure tourism activity and location, and importance of environment assessment.

The author concluded (1) adventure tourism is in embryonic phase, (2) the Uttarkhand Forest Department plays a crucial role in the development, (3) dedicated efforts are on to minimize the negative impact, but coordination among various stakeholders  engaged in adventure tourism development is missing.
