India’ Adventure Tourism Action Plan

This Strategic Action Plan focuses on strategies defined to achieve target of 8-million foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) and 800-million domestic tourist visits by 2015. The author suggests development of adventure tourism products and other new niche tourism products, and infrastructure for the same. Integrating theHimalayaas a “brand” in the “Incredible India” campaign would also help in promoting adventure tourism. A 5-year actionable agenda for adventure tourism includes

  • developing a system to collate and analyze data on the segment,
  • drafting national level adventure tourism guidelines and
