Nepal launches new trekking routes

Nepal celebrated the fifth International Everest (Sagarmatha) Day onMay 29, 2012to commemorate the first successful ascent of Everest. On this occasion, Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) launched two new trekking routes in the Himalaya:

Taplejung trek via Lamba Sumba Pass( 5,177 meters) starts from Kathmandu or Tumling Tar (Shankuwasabha). The trail starting from Kathmandu requires twenty-one (21) days, whereas eighteen (18) days are sufficient for the second trail. Highlight of the trek is lovely views of Kanchenjunga Peak from the pass.

Kathmandu–Manakamana-Khanchok-Laprak-Gorkha Bazaar, a 10-day trek in Lower Mansalu region, consists of three separate trails: Cultural Trail, Gorkha Pilgrimage Trail and Rupinala Pass Trail. Khanchok commands views of Himalchuli and Baudha peaks.
