ISO Quality Standards for Adventure Tourism Industry

Adventure tourism is expanding and a significant growth in the adventure tourism industry is expected. In view of these facts, various adventure service providers are trying to establish and implement quality standards. The certifications and standards will not only protect both suppliers and consumers but also help in attracting more tourists from around the world. For instance,New Zealandwill audit its all adventure tourism service providers.

Technical Committee (TC) 228 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Working Group (WG) 07 of the TC focus on tourism and adventure tourism respectively. During May 2011, meeting of the ISO WG 07 Adventure Tourism was held inItalyto review and prepare a draft for adventure tourism standards covering three core areas: Adventure Tourism Safety Management System, Adventure Tourism Information to Clients and Adventure Tourism Guide Personnel.
