The Himachal Pradesh Miscellaneous Adventure Activities (draft) Rule 12-IV defines hot air ballooning and lists prerequisites for organizing the activity in the State.
What is hot air ballooning?
Hot air ballooning is an adventure activity that requires an aircraft, a balloon, a glider, or similar craft.
What are the prerequisites to organize hot air ballooning in Himachal Pradesh?
- Take permission from the Director of Civil Aviation (DGCA) or any other related civil aviation agency, ensuring safe air adventures.
- Notify (NOTAM) the Air Defense Identification Agency (ADIA). The air adventure clubs, flying schools, and operators shall provide the following details about the activity to the agency:
- Area where activity will take place
- Flight duration
This information will help in getting clearance from the ADIA, identifying the aerial objects promptly, and managing airspace effectively to ensure a safe flight.
NOTAM means Notices to Airmen.
As per Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) laid down by DGCA, NOTAM is
“A notice distributed by means of telecommunication containing information concerning the establishment, condition or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure or hazard, the timely knowledge of which is essential to personnel concerned with flight operations.”
