The main bus stand on College Road, Baijnath has two main entry points. The dusty bus stand with basic facilities comes alive in daytime after a deep sleep during night and early morning.
We visited the bus stand twice in September and October 2012. Construction material was stored within the bus stand complex when we visited in October 2012. Cows were enjoying the sun in front of the office. Are cows allowed to board buses in Baijnath?
The paid toilet is dark and the doors do not close. But there are two gender specific sections. You have to pay two rupees to use it. Taps and flushes in the toilets do not work. Carry water from the drum kept at the entrance. It is just useable in case of an emergency.
The bus stand near Shiva Temple has two newspaper and magazine shops, a chemist shop and enquiry cum computerized booking office. In front of the office, you will find iron benches for the passengers. There are eateries serving Indian vegetarian and non vegetarian food.
Both long and short distance buses arrive at and depart from the bus stand. The small buses park inside the complex while the big buses for long distance journeys generally park outside.
