Learn skiing in Himachal Pradesh

Winter is approaching. Snow is embracing the mountains in Himachal Pradesh. If you want to travel to and enjoy beautiful Himalayan snow slopes, learn skiing this winter. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABIVMAS), based in Manali, Himachal Pradesh (HP), has announced its skiing training program schedule for 2011-12. The institute organizes four skiing courses:

  • Elementary Skiing Course
  • Basic Skiing Course
  • Intermediate  Skiing Course
  • Advance Skiing Course


Which institute in Himachal Pradesh, India offers skiing courses?All the four courses are of fourteen (14) days except Elementary Skiing Course. The fee for each 14-day course aggregates INR 5,300.00 for Indian participants and INR 18,500.00 for foreign participants. The 7-day Elementary Skiing Course fee amounts to INR 3,150.00 for Indians and INR 10,000.00 for foreigners. The fee includes training equipment, all meals and shared accommodation in dormitory.

The Basic and Intermediate skiing Courses will be conducted at Manali and Narkanda. However, the Basic course is scheduled from mid January to mid April and the Intermediate course from mid February to mid March.  The venue for the Advance course, which will take place between late March and mid April, is Manali.
