We (my sister and I) stayed in Room No: 243 for a day at Raj Hans Hotel (http://haryanatourism.gov.in/destination/rajhans.asp) in Surajkund, Haryana,India on Feb 6, 2010, as it is located close to the Surajkund Crafts Mela ground. Though this massive property claims to have five star facilities, it was a disappointment.
Since there was no cycle rickshaw, auto and / or taxi to hire, we had to walk under hot sun for about one kilometer with our luggage from Surajkund Mela Bus Stand to the hotel.
We had to call more than once for every service we needed whether it was repair work or standard services-like drinking water. A piece of white cloth was tied on the TV remote to prevent the lid of battery compartment from falling again and again. Broken television wire was shabbily joined with another piece of white cloth. Area under sink in the bathroom was dirty.
While checking out we had another unpleasant experience. Two lady guests’ names were prefixed with male title Mr. on the bill, which was given only after repeated requests.
There are three hotels- Sunbird, Hermitage and Raj Hans- within walking distance of the mela ground. Sunbird hotel is reserved for government dignitaries and Hermitage is booked for artisans. However, government VIPs also booked rooms inRajHansHoteland most of the staff was at their service. We wanted to meet general manager of the hotel but he was always busy with VIPs.
