Where to Learn and Practice Rock Climbing in Bangalore

rock climbing in bangaloreGeneral Thimayya National Academy of Adventure (GETHNAA) organizes short and long duration adventure programs, including parasailing, rock climbing, trekking and water sports courses for institutes and the masses. And, almost all adventures are reasonably priced. A 2-day rock-climbing course at Ram Nagaram, for instance, will cost INR 150.00 per person (subsidized) only.

GETHNAA has one of the finest artificial climbing walls inIndia. Highlights of the wall include bulges and humps similar to that of a natural rock and a 180-degree overhang or roof. Access to the wall is free. Practice as per your convenience. The wall of international standard, the largest in the country, is installed within the premises of the Kanteerva Stadium.

During January and February, the river freezes, icicles form, everything becomes white as snow embraces it. Summer and spring are the seasons to picture deep pink Dzuko lilies that look like Siroi lily but are endemic to the valley. The Dzuko is a riot of color in monsoon. Carry enough film roles to photograph wild flowers and orchids.

Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) (http://mmtamanipur.com/index.html) is organizing a trek to the valley and Mount Iso from June 15, 2011. A 6-day trek costs INR 3,500.00 per person. Book byJune 10, 2011. Mount Iso (2995 meters), located behind the valley, is the highest peak in Manipur.

If you cannot join this program, try Dzuko Valley and Japfu Peak Trek organized by Shikhar Travels. This 9-day adventure of strenuous grade costs USD 1,361.00 per person on twin sharing basis and USD 1,523.00 per person on single occupancy basis. The cost includes all meals, camping equipment, camping fee and services of camping staff during 4-day trek period. The Japfu peak (3014 meters) is the second highest peak in Nagaland.

Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA http://mmtamanipur.com/index.html), located in Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal, is a deemed state institute of adventure and affiliated to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF),New Delhi. Manipur Mountaineering Institute (MMI) is a part of MMTA that organizes various adventure programs focusing on hot ballooning, parasailing, rafting, rock climbing and other sports. The course fee starts from INR 200.00 per person. The association also offers eco-tourism and trekking packages. The MMTA, featuring Kangla Rock & Sports Climbing Wall, hosts climbing competitions regularly. MMI manages Adventure and Leadership Complex in Lamdan, Churachandpur, which is an hour’s drive from Imphal. The park features Natural Rock, Spider Net,BurmaBridge and other obstacles.
